The number one thing to consider when choosing an outfit for a shoot is to be comfortable. Being physically comfortable, not restricted, and feeling like your truest self is the most important.
Flowy fabrics are top-tier
Feminine presenting folks, dresses are amazing in photoshoots. A simple swoosh can be seen like no other in a single image. It compliments comfort and poise to create an elegant look for anyone who may wear it. Masculine presenting folks, it is always a great idea to look into straight or baggy jeans, trousers, or a boxy button up!
Match your outfit to the location and the season
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but matching color, texture, and tone are crucial to creating a seamless shoot experience. This includes shorts or a short sleeve in summer, jeans and a flannel in fall, you get the idea. I will cover complimentary colors in a bit.

Typically, you want to wear an outfit that feels truly TIMELESS. Something that you will look back on in 10 years and love it. This includes linens, denim, satin, and typically things without flashy logos - unless that is what you're going for. Catching these details can be a driving point for cinematic photography.
How to Find Complimentary Colors
The Color Wheel
An easy way to figure out complimentary colors is by looking at a basic color wheel. Opposite colors = complimentary. (as shown above) When in doubt, use google!
Not huge on colors? Stick to the Basics.
Neutral colors always win. They go with everything, and ensure the look is timeless. A simple blue jeans and white tee can never go wrong.
Finally, accessorize!
Accessories are what make an outfit unique. Earrings, a necklace stack, bracelets, rings, a watch you name it. Every little detail elevates a shoot and creates a more personal feel.
